Avalanche dangers - Valmeinier case study
Last week there was a huge avalanche in Savoie, 500x900m! It enveloped a ski touring group. Four people died, two were buried but rescued. One person was not taken down, he was the one who called the rescue services. The group was with an experienced guide.
I was intrigued by the size of the avalanche, how it happened, and on what terrain. It looks like it's kind of a tour that most of us regularly undertake - PD/S3 (selon camptocamp). If you are interested to study this, here are some links:
